Vermillion Basin

Colorado’s Vermilion Basin contains vast oil shale reserves. While nearly 80,000 acres have been identified as a Wilderness Study Area, the lands surrounding Vermillion are quickly becoming the epicenter of fossil fuel threats. Four Resource Management Plan amendment/revision processes are already underway to expand oil and gas development. In 2007, EcoFlight produced a video designed to educate politicians and concerned citizens on the threat to Vermillion Basin. It can be seen on You Tube.
